Friendships: What do they mean?

I will be posting the nex part of the story soon. It has been an emotional time for me during the last ten days.

First, my usually pleasant boss had become secretive and has been avoiding me. I’m not particularly friendly with him but he helped me retain my job when I was ill some time back. I’ll always be grateful to him. I don’t think I’d been a nuisance. In fact, I don’t “stalk” him; I make sure that I finish whatever work he gives me and to do the work well. Lately, he has been avoiding me. I haven’t mentioned this to anyone yet as office rumour mongers will be ever so willing to stretch the mere concern to employee head over heels with boss — the forbidden romance! This scenario will certainly stick with the few spinsters about, who are very attracted to my boss. No doubt he’s an attractive man, older than me by a few years. He’s also married with kids. I may wrestle and fight for a guy but I won’t be responsible for a broken family. I’ve seen the trying times that some of my relatives had to go through. It’s something I don’t want to wish on the man who was kind to me.

Second, there’s him. I sent him a message last week and only got the reply “Busy”. I’d wondered if he was up to watching the new Harry Potter movie. Then he never got back to me until the beginning of the week. He needed a favour from me and called. It was then that I found out that he was out of town! I told him calmly that he should be kinder to his friends. A “Out of town. Call you when I’m back” type of message would have certainly have assured me somewhat. He apologised of course. He needed the favour. I know I had told myself that I wasn’t going to get emotional over him, but I was. I had trouble re-writing the story. I had the last look after he called and I’m going to send it to nifty today.

Hope the story will brighten your day
